• Rudrakshi Jackfruit, an extremely rare and unique variety among jackfruits, is only found in Western Ghat areas of south-west Karnataka and north Kerala.
• It is famous in general for its very sweet and tasty, flavorful, crisp bulbs.
• The fruits of this variety are fully spherical, with their size and weight ranging from 0.5 kg up to 3 kg.
• This variety has the highest recorded recovery of up to 80% in the sense that each 1 kg of whole fruit will have up to 800 g of edible bulbs/flakes.
• The fruits are very handy, easy to harvest, carry, cut, and use. And are best suited for a small family or even for individual consumption.
• Plant Size: Delivered as a well-established sapling (8-12 months old), ready to be planted. The plant weighs around 1.5 kg to 2.5 kg.
• Growth Conditions: This variety develops well in open, sunlit areas with preferably red soil with dry, well-drained conditions, and under these favourable conditions, it develops a big canopy and strong trunk. The ideal/recommended spacing is about 30ft x 30ft. This variety is sturdy, disease- and drought-tolerant, and may survive for 50 to 100 years without need of any permanent irrigation facilities.
• Harvest Period: It usually starts yielding within 4 to 5 years of planting and has very high yielding potential with minimum irrigation or maturing.
